Tomas Linell is one of the main figures of the Splintermind team. He took care of many of the streaming solutions and programmed a soft ware that composed music from a video input. He has his back ground in the electro-acoustic music but a large part of his work has been made in front of a screen, computing. His soft wares uses an input to compose music in real-time.
As an artist or composer he set the rules for the project in his soft ware and then leaves the piece to evolve on it’s own. Not always that he was after a chance. According to the input and the soft ware he had a chance at different grades to predict the process.
He has often connected image and sound so the sound would obviously have an effect on the image or vice versa. This is also valid for Bells 1&2 where different electronic bells evolved in different geometric figures. In booth image and concept the piece is very reminiscent of the early experiments with electronic music and film.
