This is a quiet old piece made by Beeoff, made somewhere around 1997, long before nonTVTVstation was founded. The piece was recast a couple of times, from tape, when we for some reason couldn’t have a live piece running (this was because of economy or because of the transmissions from the studio weren’t too good since Telia was experimenting and we didn’t dare to invite some artists to make a piece that we wouldn’t be able to distribute. They had borrowed some microscope equipment from Carl Zeiss and started to experiment with video filming samples from a lake nearby their studio. The organisms of the sample created quiet nice pattern reminding of abstract paintings or stained glass. They had the set up running for a quiet a long time and now and then there would come a bigger organism swimming and then the pattern was destroyed and they had to find a new one. This meant that the piece had to be constantly looked after to work properly.
Attached, in a small frame and layered above the microscopic image, was a black and white pattern reminding of the optic experiments of the 1940 - 1950’s. It was created by and old radio tuner, from the 1930’s. The sound of it was used as an input in a television monitor and the monitor was the used for a video feedback that created the pattern. The fuzzing and buzzing sound of the radio was used for the sound score.
